Tedd Pettibon

“My works give tangible form to abstract thoughts by manipulating a variety of materials—often, but not limited to, steel, bronze, or wood—capitalizing on their most essential qualities. My approach to incorporating materials into these fabrications (how they are arranged, attached, and manipulated) attempts to physically animate some elements of the work. By utilizing the intrinsic characteristics of materials and objects I endeavor to achieve a poetic vision. My sculptures are about the physicality of the materials and my vision is realized by combining various elements, creating a dialog within the works. It is the interaction of the materials that helps animate the objects and makes them vehicles for fantasy and imagination.” Tedd Pettibon
