January 2016 – December 2016
In the latest VanGo! Museum on Wheels exhibition, titled Body Language, we will learn about humanity’s most universal tool for communicating ideas: the human body. Hand signals, body postures, facial expressions, and eye movements can be even more effective than words. Through a variety of museum-quality works of art by regionally and nationally renowned artists, SAM’s goal is to show viewers how this very special language, known as body language, connects us all.
About the VanGo! Museum on Wheels
Developed in 1992 as a response to the needs of a rural student population with limited exposure to museum-quality arts and crafts, the VanGo! Museum on Wheels has since grown into a valuable resource for the Central Pennsylvania region. The program is intended to give students and community members an authentic art museum experience which reinforces existing curriculum and standards, while also encouraging deeper relationships with cultural objects. The current VanGo! Museum on Wheels is a 31-foot Winnebago Sightseer retrofitted with a gallery space. Visits include tours aboard the bus, group assemblies, and a group interactive.
